I know it was like that for me; my mom is (usually) liberal, so I went around saying I was too. Same with my brother, after my conservative father. And I think what I've finally realized in the past few weeks is that I DON'T necessarily swing liberal. I've been debating the healthcare reform with my best friend, and while I do agree we need SOME kind of reform, the answer should not be universal healthcare. That is sooo far from what I "thought" before- thought in quotes because before, I never actually THOUGHT about it. And now that leaves me wanting to slam my own head against a wall for being so stupid. I do agree that that’s the case for many people, Yoon. I see the tendency that such people picked either conservative or liberal first, then adjusted their opinions about issues accordingly. Otherwise, they actually have to know about the issues, you see. It's sad that more and more people choose their sides first. One reason I lose all respect for somebody's political opinion when they tell me something like "I was born conservative (or liberal)." is exactly that, that their political intelligence stayed at the exactly same level as when they were born.
